In the early hours of Friday morning 23rd of September 2016, market hustlers and some business men/women took to their heels in other to save their goods and properties as demolition came
knocking at their door step
Information was gathered that notice of evacuation was issued to the marketers to evacuate the market premises that the place is up for demolition
The market, popular known as CANOPY market which is located at the heart of Wuse zone 3 Abuja was demolished to the ground level leaving no shop or office untouched
In an interview with a shop owner who plead anonymous said, several shops and offices have been puled down with many people going through pains and hardship on how to get themselves together and face the challenges of life..
A shop owner who also pleaded anonymity whose 3 shops were among the demolished shops, said he solely depended on the shops to run his daily income and also to put food on the table as the bread winner of the family, he is appealing to federal government to consider helping them as they have no means of making income anymore..
Other shop owners complained that the demolition exercise was carried out on a short notice, that enough time was not given to them by federal government to evacuate the market which is costing them the lost of properties worth lots of money...
In the midst of hard time and a down pool in the country's economy, the pains and grievances of these hardworking citizens is felt as most are left disorientated and confused on the next step to take.....
